BAGIDER, whose members are made up of 41 companies of mother and baby equipment, organized a seminar on the Security of Baby Products on 19 April 2016.
At the seminar which blogger moms who serve as opinion leaders for mothers and mothers-to-be participated in, the managers of UL VS Laboratory made presentations on product security, which also included technical information. Throughout the meeting organized at Grand Hyatt Hotel, the administrative board of BAGIDER, which happens to be the only association of its sector in Turkey, and the local representatives of UL VS Laboratory, which is a reputable audit institute in the United States delivered important speeches on baby products.
Sezin Aksin, Board Member of BAGIDER, also the mother of two children, delivered the opening speech of the seminar. İrem Tatlıdede, Turkey Sales Manager of UL VS Laboratory explained the objective and importance of the seminar as the moderator of the meeting. Then Güllü Göktürk, Head of UL VS Inc. Physics Laboratory commenced her speech.
In her speech, Güllü Göktürk talked about the law-enforced quality standards in baby products, primarily being toys, strollers, highchairs, car seats, feeding bottles, and pacifiers; and gave examples of the tests they use to determine whether the products have the required qualities or not. She also mentioned the importance of the practice of the quality standards in order to protect our babies both physically and mentally.
Afterwards, Halil Erdoğmuş, Board Member of BAGIDER, gave brief information about BAGIDER and emphasized the importance of choosing high-quality products for babies. Following the explanation of significant points on baby products shopping from stores and via e-commerce by Mr. Erdoğmuş, Onur Harmancı, Expert at Provincial Directorate of Commerce took the floor.
Onur Harmancı talked about how they served as a control unit in order to inspect baby products. He also shared a phone number which consumers could call the control unit to share their wishes and complaints.
Blogger moms have been served healthy snacks and beverages at the buffet prepared at the foyer of the seminar hall during the breaks between presentations. It was made sure that the blogger moms have had a pleasurable time in the private garden of the hall.
Banu Ustal, UL VS Laboratory Head of Chemistry Lab, talked about the importance of the quality of the chemicals used in baby products in her presentation. She informed the listeners about the tests that are being made to determine whether the products conform to these standards or not. She also told the blogger moms about the possible dangers of using products that do not conform to these standards applied legally to both domestic and imported products.
Perviz Aran, Head of the Administrative Board of BAGIDER, informed the listeners about the mother and baby sector in Turkey and emphasized the importance of blogger mothers in his closing speech. Mentioning the previous speakers, he stated that BAGIDER will keep on organizing educational meetings for mothers and workers at short intervals. He said that they will conduct projects to improve the sector and keep in touch with the ministries about the legal procedures in order to make all product and services in Turkish mother and baby sector reach the EU standards.
